A guide to API 5L PSL2 X56


API 5L PSL2 X56 grade's requirement is a part of API 5L. Stronger grades have the level X followed by the specified minimum yield strength of the pipe steel, measured in kilo pounds per square inch. Standard Line Pipe has grade A and B. 
Application: fluid transportation and gas transportation and other applications. 
Mechanical Properties of Steel According to API 5L PSL2 X56 
API 5L PSL2 X56 pipe Size: 
Outer Dimensions.: 6 mm – 219 mm 
Wall Thickness: 1.0 mm – 30 mm 
Protection: 
Pipes are supplied: 
Black, bear or Internal and External Anti-corrosion surface treatment
External varnished with black or clear liquid coating 
Marking: 
Marking is paint on the ends of pipes. The same data, as well as additional information per request of client, is indicated on the bundles stickers. 
Delivery: 
Pipes are supplied in hexahedral bundles or other shapes of bundles tied with strip. Weight of bundle up to 5000 kg upon request of customer. Each bundle is furnished with three tags.

The specified standards and materials were ASTM A53 GR.B, with a diameter of 2”, wall thickness SCH40, and a length of 6 meters. The total order was for approximately 130 tons of one specification, with the pipe ends to be threaded and accompanied by couplings and caps for use in well pressure testing at the project site.
