The Difference between Oil Line Pipe and Gas Line Pipe
The oil line pipe, also known as oil steel pipe, is a kind of pipeline mainly used for the transportation of oil. The oil line pipe is used underground to convey viscous liquid such as cycloalkanes, alkanes and aromatic hydro-carbons mixture. The oil steel pipe can not only be used to convey fuel oil and gasoline, but also industrial products, such as chemical solution, chemical fertilizers, pesticides and plastic raw materials.
The gas line pipe, also called gas steel pipe, is a kind of pipeline mainly used for the transportation of gases, especially natural gas. Usually the line pipe can be divided into seamless steel pipe and welded steel pipe. And most of the gas line pipes are welded steel pipes. Pipe plant manufacture line pipes by forming a steel plate or coil into a cylindrical shape, and closing the seams through using a welding process, such as are-welding and electrical resistance welding. The quality of the weld seam can be evaluated in the way of ultrasonic or radiological inspection methods and pressure tests each joint of pipe to levels significantly higher than the eventual operating pressure of the pipeline.
